Sunday 2nd May 2010 - Modern Sequence Dance Night and EADA Competitions
A big thank you from Robert and Louise Aldred and Steven Shaw and Helen Blackburn to everyone who attended and made this first Speedwell Rooms event a huge success.
The children and parents attending the competitions thoroughly enjoyed themselves, with lots of dancing for each event, utilising the large Speedwell Rooms dance floor. The adult Social, Senior and Amateur competitors certainly enjoyed the atmosphere of dancing the final rounds during the evening dance.
Richard Keeling played some excellant music and everyone was pleased with the venue location and facilities. We are now busy planning the 2011 event, so watch this space for the final date.
**2011 date confirmed as 4 September 2011 - more details to follow**

BDC announcement - the BDC have asked that this statement be shown below
9th December 2008
To whom it may concern
It has come to our attention that DVDs are being produced illegally of Prize Winning Dances from Sequence Inventive Dance Competitions. Income is being received through a client database, despite the fact that the holder of the database was informed that this was not allowed, without obtaining permission and paying the appropriate fees to the individual organisations.
This action is a breach of copyright and procedures will be put into place by the Briitish Dance Council if the selling of copyright DVDs is not ceased forthwith. The issuing of DVDs to clients also affects the clients who are obtaining illegal DVDs, and action against them may also be undertaken.
To date no permission has been given to any organisation for them to produce DVDs of Prize Winning Dances.
We would request the general public not to get involved in the purchasing of DVDs of Prize Winning Sequence Dances as this could have serious consequences.
Yours sincerely,
Len Armstrong (President BDC)
Roy Sharpe (Sequence Advisory Chairman)
